Bud Selig made his first good decision by postponing tonights Phillies/Rockies game due to weather,,, his next move should be removing the umpire who blow the Call down the left field line in the Yankees game.... How can you let that umpire continue??? |

Reply with quote | #2 | Bromer, it's good to see that you are back!! I've missed your commentaries lately. Your Phils look very solid again. Their one run game in frigid Coors Field last night was a game very well played and managed! When the Rockies brought in Jose Contreras all I could say was "look out - bad mistake"!! The Rockies pen has to be stronger than that, or is it??
I agree with you about that ump. Is Selig blind?? |

Tom Verducci made an interesting observation in his column on SI.com today about the outfield umpires: they are not necessary. Seems like they make more mistakes than not, were created just to give the alternates something to do in the 40s, and are not accustomed to the position they are asked to stand... |

Reply with quote | #4 | A college umpire called in WFAN today and said that he was trained to watch the line, but perhaps Cuzzi was watching the ball, instead, which could mean that he was not able to see something moving that quickly..... they should be doing the 6 umpire crews during the regular season more. |

He meant to call fair but he called foul. Fair was what his eyes saw but foul was in his head so he called foul. Any ball would have been called foul even those that may have been fair. The other umps didn't see it because Cuzzi is their buddy. It might be time for instant replay even though I'm against it!! |
